At the time, in the field of IT, there were no high-quality client representation services available in Estonia. It was quite common that the client and the service provider were unable to understand each other, resulting in either the failure of IT projects or projects ending in a result that was unacceptable for both parties. There was a true shortage of competent and project based experts in the field.
In the first year, most of our projects took place in the health care sector. We gained a thorough understanding of the field while managing the creation of the informatics service and the development of a modern hospital information system, eHL, for the Tartu University Hospital. At that time, our clients also included the Ministry of Social Affairs (preparation of Estonian E-Health projects), North Estonia Medical Centre, West-Tallinn Central Hospital, East-Tallinn Central Hospital, Tallinn Ambulance Service, European Commission, Georgia Health and Social Projects’ Implementation Center, and private hospital Fertilitas.
As for our services – development management, IT management and data protection management were intertwined from the very beginning. The task of assessing the current situation was often followed by the task of managing the execution of important development projects for the client.
Over the years, companies and public sector institutions have had different priorities. Since 2007, both private and public sector clients have paid greater attention to data protection. During the recession, many companies switched their focus to the future and wanted to know more about how to organise their IT matters in an optimal manner and how to effectively utilise technologies to achieve commercial success for their business.
In 2010, we made it our mission to help companies better understand the specifics of managing in the field of IT. Over the next three years we updated the IT management handbook published by AS Äripäev, and 2012 saw us put together a compilation for the Tiger Leap Foundation, “IT juhtimise head tavad koolis” (“Best Practices of IT Management in a School”).
HLP experienced its most rapid growth from 2006 to 2008, when the volume of our services multiplied annually. In 2010, Estonian financial newspaper Äripäev nominated us in their gazelle ranking as the most successful IT company based on Estonian capital.
Over the years, our experts have been characterized by strong will, a high level of competence and professional efficacy. We quickly learned that there are no ready-made specialists who are able to provide our services. Therefore, we look for highly promising people and give them the possibility to develop and gather experiences while working alongside our experts.
